Pray for Righteous Leadership in Australia’s Government
Join us to pray and fast that God may be all in all – within ourselves and our nation – so every rule, authority and power is subject to Jesus Christ and all can rest in the abundant freedom and joy of life in the kingdom of our Father God.
“Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For ‘God has put all things in subjection under his feet.’… When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.” ( 1 Corinthians 15:24-28)
It is our conviction that Australia is again facing a crossroads. This a very short-notice prayer call but the prayer battle for our nation is unpredictable to say the least. As Ps Tim Edwards said,”We must strike while the iron is hot”.
On Thursday 29 June, Australian Prayer Leaders, during a national teleconference, confirmed a proposal to call the Christian churches in Australia to pray and fast from 1-3 July 2017 for the nation of Australia, our leaders and our government. It is also a call to pray that marriage in Australia will remain between a man and a woman, as it always has been. This prayer call was initiated by an Indigenous Elder working in partnership with a Catholic Christian leader in our nation’s capital, Canberra.
The biblical precedent for this call to prayer and fasting for Godly government and for our leaders and our broader populace to find Christ as Lord and Saviour is found in 1 Timothy 2: 1-6: “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.”
