Prayer for Korea

This is a season when our generation has been given a grace to prayer for the whole of Korea.

God has been calling many of us to pray for Korea for some months and the need for prayer becomes more and more evident as the political/military situation on the Korean Peninsula becomes more volatile. We are approaching the May 8-10 visit of Dr David Yonggi Cho and Dr Young Hoon Lee to lead us in prayer for Australia. www.riveroflifeconference.org

A Campaign of Prayer for Korea

is being led by Kris Schlyder, Australian Indigenous Prayer Network, kschlyder1@dodo.com.au and Graham McLennan, National Alliance of Leaders, nacl@vic.chariot.net.au and Warren Lyons, Prayer Coordinator for New Zealand prayer24hrs@hotmail.com – offering prayer strategy for spiritual warfare. You may like to contact them to receive updates on this and other key issues for our nation. Pray in the ways that God calls you to pray for the people and future of this whole country.

The Prayer Vigil for Korea at midnight, Sunday 14 April 2013 precedes the 101st anniversary of the birth of North Korean founder Kim II Sung, the god of North Korea on Monday 15 April. We will continue to pray in the days ahead until the Lord releases each of us.

Key Scriptures for United Prayer and Proclamation

Warren Lyons: Shalom, The LORD is continuing to confirm strategy and revelation He has given to intercessors regarding Korea. Our network is standing in unity with Australian Intercessors as we come before the LORD together. The following detail is a combined email for Australia and New Zealand Intercessors for Meditation Prayer and Proclamation of God’s Word. Please pray and seek the LORD to hear what He is saying to you and your involvement.

Kris Schlder: After our combined New Zealand – Australian prayers for the Korean situation the Lord has said to Pastor Warren, “I have heard your prayers….now draw your sword (i.e. the Sword of the Spirit) – and send forth My word which will not return to Me void.” As an on-going strategy for this situation we need to exalt Jesus, the Living Word, over North Korea and the situation Kim Jong Un has created. We need to meditate on the Word of God, pray the Word of God, and proclaim the Word of God over the situation. Pastor Warren and Kris Schlyder  have put together scriptures which you may care to use united prayer and proclamation.

                      Meditation Prayer Proclamation for Korea

These are some scriptures you may like to use in the presentation for meditating, praying and proclaiming God’s Word.

This is what the LORD has shared with me regarding a continued strategy for Korea when he said it is time to draw out your sword. God’s Word being His sword and the Scripture also from Joshua chapter five was given. It is noted that the LORD of Hosts had His “sword drawn”, this is Holy warfare and Holy ground that lead Joshua to bow down and worship, during the time of worship he received the strategy to take Jericho. God’s Word remains the same for today’s battle; as we can pray; proclaim and meditate as His Word has all power and authority in Jesus Name.

Joshua 5:13-15 13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant? 15 And the captain of the Lord’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Ephesians 6:10-18 [Put on the whole armour of God] 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Colossians  1:9-18 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood,] the forgiveness of sins.15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

2 Corinthians 5:19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18
by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

Romans 10:17  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

1 Thessalonians 1:8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2 Kings 14:25 He restored the territory of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which He had spoken through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet who was from Gath Hepher.

2 Kings 19:15-20 15 Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16 Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. 17 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. 19 Now therefore, O Lord our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord God, You alone.” 20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.’ 21 This is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him:22 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Daniel 2:21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Revelations 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

2 Chronicles 6:13 And now, O Lord God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David.

 Prayer of Faith and Proclamation

Dear Father,

We give you praise and thanksgiving for the victory in your Word, we acknowledge before you today that Jesus Christ is LORD and KING. We thank you for the victory of the cross and the power of the blood of Christ defeating Satan and all principalities  and powers that stand against your will and purposes for all the nations of the earth including the Korean peoples. We worship and praise you with a heart of thanksgiving acknowledging your grace and love to all the Korean peoples whom you have created. We thank you Heavenly Father that your desire is for all men is to be saved and to rejoice in your Kingdom. We particularly uphold also our brothers and sisters in North Korea as many are persecuted who love you and we ask for your ongoing grace and presence each day for them. We thank you for the binding of the strongman in answer to our prayers as we proclaim your word  and the authority of the name of Jesus; name above all names; and release your blessing to this nation proclaiming your Word; in Jesus name we pray. Amen

Kris Schylder: I heartily endorse the Scriptures and Prayer of Faith and Proclamation above, which you have provided. With your agreement I have added to this attachment words which came to Australian intercessors.

Psalm 138: 7- 8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the work of Your hands.

1 Samuel 5: 1-5 Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon. And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the morning there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and set it in its place again. And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the LORD. The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only Dagon’s torso was left of it. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day. I see a parallel between this situation in Korea today with the situation in Ashdod in Old Testament times. Dagon, the Philistines’ god, could not stand in the presence of the I AM, the Holy One of Israel. Kim II Sung is the god of North Korea. His 101st birthday is celebrated on Monday 15 April 2013. The day is a big public holiday which apparently is called The Day of the Sun, which is clearly a counterfeit of the SON OF GOD whom we are proclaiming as the Living Word of God and exalting Him over North Korea.

Psalm 50: 4 – 6  He shall call to the heavens  from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people: “Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge.  Selah

Exodus 17: 11 – 13  And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand Amalek prevailed. But when Moses hands became heavy, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

North Korean Church Leaders Ask for Prayer Amid War Preparations.

A call to prayer from North Korean church leaders was sent out by our Australian National Alliance of Christian Leaders (NACL) in their weekly news bulletin dated today 9 April.

“We must respond now to the Christian leaders’ request to pray for them. Pray for Kim Jong-Un; that God will work in his heart and he will pursue peace and not war. Pray for wisdom for leaders in the United States, South Korea and China. Pray for Christians who are put in even more danger due to war preparations. Pray families will find food to feed their families. Finally, pray that no matter what happens Christians will remain strong in their faith.”

(Santa Ana, CA)—North Korean church leaders are asking Christians worldwide to pray for their country amid increased war threats and combat preparation by North Korean military officials.

Prayer for beleaguered believers in North Korea is more important than ever, says Open Doors, an organization that supports persecuted Christians in 60 countries. (Photo: KCNA/AP)

According to underground Christians, there is a war-like atmosphere in the country: “We are to meet the decisive battle with a gun in one hand and a hammer in the other,” summarized a Christian leader about the message the North Korean people recently received from the “high command.” “The military army, navy, air force troops, strategic rocket troops, the red guards and the red youth guards are already in combat mode. Urgent meetings are being held everywhere, regardless if it is day or night. At those meetings, officials make decisions on what needs to happen in case war breaks out and everyone, including women, needs to be combat ready.”

According to Open Doors sources, many cars on the roads are covered with camouflage nets. Also, soldiers are wearing hats with camouflage dried branches and carry guns. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un released a statement to his people, saying that “If war breaks out because of the actions of the U.S. and puppet South Korean’s unpardonable behavior, they will end up with a disgraceful downfall, and our people will greet a brilliant new day of reunification. The day has come to show off the power of ‘Military First’ and our great nation to the whole world.” (Map: Lonely Planet)

However, Christians and other citizens fear war and its consequences. “Many people are in a hurry to purchase emergency food supplies and daily goods just in case. The prices of goods, including food, are skyrocketing,” tells one believer in North Korea.

North Korean Christians are grateful for their fellow believers in the West and request their urgent prayers. “I would like to thank the many brothers and sisters around the world for their continuous love and support,” says the Christian believer. “We know that our journey will not be an easy one, but we are sure that our faith, desperate hope and passionate desire will some day bear many fruit. No matter how difficult life is for us, we never blame or complain about our circumstances. God has promised us in the Bible that if we seek His Kingdom first, all other things will be given to us as well. Please pray for us.”

Jerry Dykstra, a spokesman for Open Doors USA, adds: “Beneath the surface of the all the rhetoric of war and the possible launch of nuclear missiles are the suffering and persecution of the estimated 200,000 to 400,000 Christians in North Korea. Also, an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 Christians are in harsh political prison camps. The government has been the No. 1 persecutor of Christians for 11 years in a row, according to the Open Doors 2013 World Watch List ( www.worldwatchlist.us).
